Help me with my college list!!!

Hi, I am a senior.
My unweighted GPA is 3.81.
My ACT score is 28.
My rank is 99/533.
I am the President of one school club and some other officer positions outside of school.
I am thinking about applying to UTD and Baylor University as safeties and Texas A&M and SMU as matches.
I am not sure about where to apply as reaches.
Please give me any advice!
Thank you.

Hey Esther, are you attending a Texas public school? That really matters at UTD and TAMU. Can your family afford to pay Baylor or SMU tuition etc., or wil you need a scholarship? There’s lots of advice here on the Texas schools.

Yes, I am attending a Texas public school.
I will need scholarship or financial aid since my family income is low enough for me to get SAT fee waiver.

OP, run the net price calculator on the financial aid page of each school. It will estimate what each school will cost you. Take the figure, the EFC, to your parents and see what they’re willing to contribute to your education each year. There’s no point applying to schools which you cannot afford. Is Texas as far from home as you’ll go? in what do you want to major?

thank you. I will do it to make sure my parents can afford it.
No, it is just that I only know those colleges since they are in Texas.
I am still undecided for my major.

do you want to stay within a so-many-hour drive of home? where is home, vaguely speaking?

as for the major, is there anything like engineering or music or compsci that we can rule out? anything the school should have in a major?

Anything else you can tell us about where this college should be or what kind of college it should be (LAC, number of undergrads, student-faculty ratio, granola crunchy, etc.) would surely help us narrow it down. there are, after all, several thousand colleges in the US for which you’d be an admissions candidate.

I really want to go to a college in Boston or California, but my parents cannot afford me to live there.
I grew up in Taiwan, and moved to Texas four years ago.
The only state I really know is Texas that is why I am applying to those in-state colleges.
My major will be something related to business.
I am not planning to apply to any LAC.
The size of the school does not matter to me.
I hope to get into a college that can help me to find a job easily in the future to support the family.

OP, are you still there? I needed to do some research.

I am:)
Thanks for helping.
