A great safety for you!!! Plus free tuition!

University of Alabama…EZ application…no essays, no teacher recs. UA uses SAT/ACT scores and GPA for admittance, so app process is super easy.

Awesome school - beautiful campus - fabulous dorms-private rooms for honor students. We’re Southern California natives (I went to UCI). I have two boys at Alabama; they love it.

AND…you’d get free tuition scholarship because your stats are so high. All you have to do is apply for admission and apply for the scholarship. You must also do the online scholarship app - but it’s super easy, too.

UA Presidential Scholar
An out-of-state first-time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 32-36 ACT or 1400-1600 SAT score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Presidential Scholar and will receive the value of out-of-state tuition for four years.

The above is worth about $80,000 in OOS tuition. You might also be eligible for some department scholarships (such as Engineering), depending on the major listed on your app.

Here is a link to the [Virtual Campus Tour - The University of Alabama](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>Page Not Found | The University of Alabama) Virtual Tour I recommend viewing in full screen. Then use your mouse to “move around”. Also, click on the below pics for other sites on campus.

And…UA gives generous credit for AP classes. So, both my kids were admitted with 41 credits…nearly all of their Gen Ed/Core Curriculum coures were covered. That made them second semester sophomores from day one. It makes it much easier to do a second major or minor that way. Or…graduate early or get a masters at the same time thru the University Scholars program.

oh wow i will definitely talk to my parents about that! thanks so much!

^^^ Glad to help…

If you have any questions…either post them here or PM. If you PM, remind me of your situation since several kids are PMing me with UA questions… :)

BTW…the 1400-1600 SAT requirement is for math + critical reading. No problem for you, especially since you already have the ACT 33, but in case someone else was wondering. :)

You would also be a great candiate for the elite Computer-Based Honors Program. Only 40 kids are admitted into the program. Every major is eligible. [Honors College - Computer-Based Honors](http://honors.cbhp.ua.edu/index.php?page=cbhp)

There are other honors programs as well.

You should talk your parents into flying you out for a campus visit. An out-of-state student who goes to UA recently posted on College Confidential that… ** “UA is recruiting for the best and brightest students nationwide. For many students, it is the money that first interests us in Alabama, we visit, and then we get hooked.” **

Tulane also offers excellent merit scholarships, and their application process is very easy. They require a “writing sample” instead of a full essay, for example.
