Hi all
I had undergrad research interview few days ago, and it was successful! I had two interviews with two post docs. Luckily I got offers from both, but, I think I have choose whom I will work with. I don't want to compare those people, because they both have great publications and great research projects. They have both interesting projects, but, only thing is one post doc is her third year(does she leave soon?) and she made it clear that she will put me on author's list if she uses my work and she was really nice(I talked to her 1 hour and 30 minutes). The other 1st yr post doc has also great results in publication recently, but, she never worked with undergrad before. She seems nice but not nice as the other post docc. I don't want to compare both, but, do you guys give me advice when you choose the person to work with? It is really important to me but, I don't know which will be best for me and them. THANKS!!

pick the person you like the best, as he/she will be your boss and all else being equal (ie interest in research field), that’s a huge factor

Agree, choose the one whom you had the best feeling about. It’s also possible (not guaranteed, but possible) that the one who has worked with undergrads before will have a better idea of how to take advantage of what you have to offer and how to make the experience a good one for you.

Yeah, I think 3rd year post doc will be great boss to me(cuz he’s super nice to help me and tell me about his research). He also told me he will give me independent project later. So, I want to work with him. But, is there any graduation for post-doc? cuz, I kinda want to stay here more than one semester(want to stay at least one year), he has been working as post doc since 2007. Also, it’s not going to be rude when I reject either one(I know it’s not, but, still awkward for me to have choose the person to work with) because I felt like 1st year post doc kinda assume that I’m going to work with her. Thank you guys!:)

It always feels a little awkward to turn down one job and accept the other. But it’s a good problem to have :).

Most important thing: accept the job you want FIRST; make sure it is all set. THEN, tell the other one that you really appreciate the opportunity but have found a better fit.
