I got into 5 schools. I plan on majoring in business, but I'm split on where to go. I liked Penn State the best, but is it worth the extra money over Binghamton and Saint Josephs. Is it worth paying more to go to a place you WANT to go to over another college that I feel I have to go to for financial reasons. My parents make 200,000+ but I also have a sibling in college as well, so I would definitly need to take out loans to go to Penn State. Any opinions?

Elon ---- $30,000
Penn State ---- $36,000
Binghamton ---- $20,000
Saint Josephs University ----$25,000
Clemson ---- $38,000

In the long run, you will be fine going to Binghamton or St Josephs as opposed to Penn State, especially if you plan on getting your MBA. However, if the school is not a fit for you and you feel that you’ll be suffering through 4 years, then this would be a situation to avoid. Good luck.

Binghamton is excellent for business. However, be sure you make your final choice based on the overall college, not the specific major. That may change.

Rodney, the acceptance is into to SOM and Penn State is Smeal. It is really coming down to Penn State(Smeal), Binghamton SOM, and Saint Josephs (Honors program).

I didn’t think it would be that hard to make a decision, but the past few months I’ve become really conscious of the cost and its making me second guess wanting to go to Penn State, even though I like it much more than the others.

If you want to go to Penn State, you should. St. Joe’s is such a small school compared to Penn State and I think you would get bored with it quickly. I’ve had kids go there from my high school, which has 900 kids, and say that college for them was exactly like high school and they ended up leaving. I also know of people who went to Penn State for business and thought they had received a great education, but they are going to law school currently.

glassesarechic, I think I like Penn State more because of its size and the spirit of the school. Binghamton seemed like the unhappiest, most depressing place that I have visited, and I felt the complete opposite about Penn State. I was also thinking the alumni network has got to be the best of the three I’m still looking at just because of the shear numbers.

Just because it seems a little neglected, I’ll throw in that I was impressed with Elon’s business program when I toured. I don’t know what to say about the price though.
