So this is it so far. I still need my VAPA requirement so I was thinking AP Art History. Should I do that in the empty spot in 11th? But then 11th grade might be REALLY hard...hmmm....
Also, should I do chemistry or physics in 12th grade? And any suggestions for the empty spot in 12th? Would it be worth it to have an empty class period for studying and doing homework? Or would it be better to have another class? I'm a freshman currently.

@sluchy523 They do it differently at my school. It’s a combination of AP and IB. For example, Pre-AP Biology is considered the first year of HL Biology. AP Calc BC is the first year of HL math. AP US History is the first year of HL History.

@sluchy523 No, I even talked to the counselor. I thought AP Biology was the first year of HL Biology at first but I was wrong. It’s Pre-AP Biology.

Yeah, but is it available during sophomore year? The IB Program requires IB classes to be taken junior-senior year. I think that she was trying to say that Pre-AP Biology credits are earned for IB Biology HL 1, but you still have to take it during junior year. I may be mistaken though, so you should try to clarify that with her.

@sluchy523 Yes, most people actually do it in 9th grade. I decided to do chemistry instead, that’s why I’m doing it next year. Also, at my school if you take Spanish 2 in the summer you can do SL Spanish in 10th grade. I guess my school is just a little weird. I already told the counselor what I plan for the next years, and she never said anything about what you said. Plus it says on my school website that it’s only one year.

My only comment is something I think you can’t do anything about. But it seems that your school offers only 6 classes per year? You don’t have any electives until you’re an upperclassman? No art, music, etc programs in your school? It seems like with such a restrictive schedule it’s pretty much impossible to personalize your high school program to your individual interests. You can probably find out a lot about the schedule you’ve proposed by talking to older students because probably quite a few of them have done the exact same program. Oh, and you should probably take physics. You didn’t even say what you are interested in, but with a high school like that it doesn’t really seem to matter. Another suggestion: 6 classes is pretty light. Is it usual in your school for kids to take one of them as a study hall? I wouldn’t.

@mathyone Yes we have electives, I just choose to do Spanish because that’s a requirement. Some people do other things and take Spanish in the summer. But I’m unable to do that. We have art, in fact there’s a visual and performing arts requirement. I don’t think it’s usual to have a free period/study hall. But if I don’t have anything else I need to take, I just thought I might as well do that. Thanks for your input.
