Help me with the biggest decision of my life

Hello, Please help me decide where I go to college.
I got accepted to UCI UCD UCSB and Cal Poly Slo
My major at davis is undecided, and Irvine it is business administration, and cal poly I am general engineering, but I am mostly considering Irvine and Cal poly slo.
So I really want a profession in business, but a lot people are telling me that I the best way to get into business is to major in engineering and then to get a MBA a few years after I graduate.
I know there isn’t really a point doing anything else at SLO, but I want to know what you think is the best option if I want to do business down the road. Anything would help. I am nervous about not fitting in at Cal Poly because it’s the first time that I will be a minority on a college campus and that I do not have a strong passion for engineering. But this will put me in better stead for a job after I graduate and will also almost guarantee a job.

I really like Irvine too and I also like the campus but I am scared that it will not give me a solid backing.

Everything I have observed, read and heard about the various Cal Poly engineering programs is that they are rigorous, competitive (you will experience failure) and therefore demanding of time, energy and intellect. There’s also a lot of team work/projects involved.
If you’re not really passionate about it and comfortable with the learn by doing thing UCI might be your best bet.

On the minority thing, there are a number of recent threads on this forum that you should check out. Also, it looks like Cal Poly’s diversity is about to increase dramatically beginning with next year’s freshmen and transfers. For instance, my son’s class has at least 15 students going there and I don’t think there is an ethnic group that is not represented. His room mate to be is Lebanese. Very cool!

I agree, I wouldn’t go into engineering if I wanted to do business. I would look into the other UCs’ business programs.
