I'm a senior this year in high school. Unfortunately last year, I got into some trouble and got suspended for drinking on a trip overseas but owned up to it, which ultimately was the result of the suspension. My main choice of school this year is NYU. Should I put this on my App? How do you think it will affect me?

Well, considering you were suspended from high school, your high school will bring it up in your application whether or not you wish them to (hopefully, your school will also mention that you were honest about it). This means it would probably be a good thing to bring it up. It is possible that you might be able to write about it for one of your essays. There is also typically a section that asks about such things and for explanations.

The common app requires you to answer this specific question. Be honest.

There’s a part on the application where you give the reason for any suspensions, expulsions, or legal issues you’ve been in. your HS will let them know that you were suspended, so you need to explain the situation in this section.
