Hello guys !

I am looking to transfer into UT Austin as Business major in Mccomb. However I do have unique background and I want you guys to realistically chance me for getting into such program.

I have finished my freshmen year of college in UIUC as psychology major in 2014-2015 but tuition was getting out of hand and took year of community college over at Houston and prepare for UT austin instead.

My question is my overall GPA will be exactly 3.8, but since I have finished my freshmen year at competitive 4 year University does it help me to get to Mccomb ? What are my realistic chances ? I saw average GPA for transfer has increased to 3.93 and I am no where near that. Im also thinking of applying to Computer Science instead of COLA Econ but I am afraid that I will not get into UT at all. Do you guys think I have solid chance for CS or CE ?

We sat in an info session back in October for McCombs and Cockrell. Both schools mentioned that it was easier transferring into the schools from the outside than from the inside. Both schools are competitive to get into and yes, the GPA requirement was real. Based on GPA alone, I would say no but I would still apply anyway. That said, tuition at UT is not cheap and cost of living is a whole lot more expensive at UT and in Austin than other schools with great business schools.

Computer science (which is in CNS I believe) is extremely competitive. I would not recommend it as a second choice major to business. If you don’t get your first choice you want the second choice to be something you can get into which I think you’ll be able to do for Econ. Make sure you want to study it though because once you get to UT in Econ, you’ll have a small window to get into McCombs. You must take 26 hours in residence before applying, you can only enter in the Fall and once you get to 90 hours, they don’t want you to transfer.
