Help!! Middlebury's place in my decision is slipping

So, I got into Middlebury, Swarthmore, Amherst, Dartmouth, Georgetown, and schools that gave money like Grinnell and Franklin and Marshall.

Yet, Middlebury is no longer at the top of the non-money schools. Swarthmore, Amerhst, and Dartmouth are now above it.

So I come here to try to let people convince me why I should attend Middlebury. I like a generally smaller feel of a LAC (hurts Georgetown, not really Dartmouth). I want very bright, committed students. Study Policital Science.

The problem is that I can't see Middlebury above SAD (Funny that's the acronym for Swarthmore, Amherst, and Dartmouth) in those areas. I KNOW it is great, and I liked it when i visited, but I need convincing.

I would be very greatful is to hear both sides of the argument. I am sure that many other people are going through similar prediciments.

Thanks,
Nickleby

Lol I'd probably say go somewhere else, but only because I've been waitlisted from Midd and Middlebury is my first choice by absolute far. I don't want to be like, "NO DON'T GO!" just because I'm afraid I won't get off the waitlist. Middlebury obviously is an amazing school; those already attending here or will be next year would definitely attest to that.

Congrats on getting into all of those places!!! That's a really great accomplishment. Good luck in choosing your next year--whichever one you pick, it'll be great!

lianapark, I have to just say THANK YOU for such an honest and straightforward reply. I wish you the best of luck on the waitlist.

Nickleby,
You shouldn't need convincing when it comes to choosing a college. If Midd has slipped on your list, then there's probably a reason for it. Perhaps you care more about prestige, or other people's perception of your abilities based on where you go to school. More people will certainly have heard of Dartmouth and Georgetown, but Midd offers an education that is in many ways just as good, and in some ways, superior, to the academic experience that you'll have at any of the other fine schools that you've been admitted to. I would suggest that you visit each (if you can), and base your decision on where you can picture yourself being happiest. If that ends up being Dartmouth or Amherst or Swat, then best of luck. If that ends up being Midd, then welcome to the family.

Good luck and congrats on getting into so many wonderful schools...
