Lovelearning - you exhibit great maturity in this whole process. I am impressed that you are considerate towards your Dad's experience and success.

My 2 cents is that there are great suggestions here. Definitely check out College of Wooster (this is a gem of a school). My neice is attending there on a full scholarship and she loves it. She is planning to go to veterinary school after ugrad and exhibits alot of maturity and creativity like you.

Also, Lawerence University in WI, U Chicago has very good merit scholarship. Washington U has very good merit scholarship so long as you do the research and a paper early(I think). Grinnell, Macalester, Beloit, and Carleton are all excellent schools. Check out Rice because their tuition is not as bad as a lot of other schools. Our neighbors who visited there were surprised that it was a good chunk less than other equivalent schools here inthe East. Also they have some creative souls there.
Good luck!

thats so funny! yes...creighton is awesome i know, but i live literally right up the street from it...are you a student or parent in omaha? do you go to cu or are you considering it or do you have a child considering it? my dad was just trying to convince me today that it is a very good school, especially for those interested in pre-med b/c of the medical school...what do you think?

Im a high school senior at millard west im going out of state but I know a lot of people who are going to creighton, mostly kids interested in pre-med or law. I also have a guy friend who got a full ride into the nursing program.

I was actually suggesting Ohio Univeristy in Athens, not Ohio State. It, and Miami, are smaller schools, perhaps more similar to a LAC feeling than Ohio State. Anyway, yes, these schools are more expensive for OOS, but still well below the $40,000+ price tag of a private. They may even come in cheaper than a private with a scholarship. (Even at a half-tuition scholarship they are going to be about the same price as the private.) And they give scholarships too!

If privates is your desire (and I do not think you should rule out your home state's University of Nebraska) with a chance for significant merit aid, some others to look into: Augustana (IL), Creighton (Neb), Cornell College (IA), DePaul (Chicago), DePauw (IN), Loyola (Chicago).
