My S just got a very nice email from admissions stating that although his coming app had been submitted, he still needed to send his supplements. Unfortunately this is 15 days after the scholarship deadline when he thought he had submitted it before Thanksgiving. He wrote an email and will call Monday, but he can only go with $. Does anyone know if he will be considered?
The email says it may be complete, just not submitted. Again the email may be pleasant because he still has an upcoming deadline, but he needed to meet the Dec 1 deadline.
I do not believe he will be considered for merit. Teacher/counselor stuff has leeway, but student info must be in by December 1st, or they would have to make a lot of concessions for a lot of people I would think. Rules and deadlines have to be followed to be fair to everybody. Good luck though.
Does the Common App say it was submitted? His dashboard should have 2 green check marks next to USC and if he goes into USC under My Colleges there should be 2 different dates/times under “Review and Submit Common App” and “Review and Submit Writing Supplement”. If there are and they are both before midnight on 12/1, then he should have no problem with still being considered for merit.
He only submitted the first by 12/1paid and thought everything was complete. Just found out the writing supplement was complete but not submitted!!! Ahhhhh
Sorry @skeptile, it is so frustrating and frankly sad, but I don’t think there is anything you can do, deadlines are deadlines. But since they sent you an email, maybe the will give leeway to those that got first part of app in? idk.
My D was going to apply RD to a school but managed to get it done and decided to go for the EA option. Worked hard, got it in a few days before deadline of Nov 1 and spent last Thursday, December 15th checking and checking to see her status change…only to realize at the end of the day that she forgot to change regular decision to early action on the common app for this school. It is one of the first questions asked by every school and she answered it way back in September when she thought she would be applying RD. Easy mistake, just like your sons. Just a big oops.
She was so bummed, but then she got accepted to another great school yesterday, so it all works out somehow. Hang in there, scholarships are not easy to get at USC, yet it seems everyone gets one. There are plenty of 4.6 33 ACT types that don’t even get accepted yet get a scholarship, holistic makes it tough to call for anyone. Good things lie ahead for him, you just have to wait to see what they are! Good luck!
Thank you. He will call Monday and hope. You are right, he will be fine and I know it’s a reach for merit. But there is nothing without the merit. Sorry for your D mistake. I could see that happening as well.
