No extension was offered. Look at Bluebayou post #16. That is kind of what we were planning. We will be out our deposit if we back out of either offer come mid-June. We were just going to accept both offers, see what else comes up scholarshipwise in the next month and then regretfully back out of one the offers. I know of several kids who have deposits in at 2 schools and are waiting to see how scholarships shake out. I don't like doing this but from what I have read, it is possible.

Ok- so we realize that we need to decide this (ala no posting dual deposits) and a decision will be made tonight. Ahhhhhhh. I am working and waiting for DD to call me and let me know. Thanks to all. Will keep you posted.

Good Luck! It will all work out.... and if not, there is always the transfer option!

Thanks to all. All advice, opinions are appreciated. You guys are the best!

Good luck with your decision making. Our son is finishing his junior year at BU. He is a music major with a fairly generous performance scholarship. We have felt that the money spent was well worth it. He LOVES BU, Boston and everything about his college experience. I'm from Ohio...OSU is a fabulous school, but I agree with the others, Columbus is NOT Boston. Boston has to be the best college town in the country. Please let us know what your daughter finally decides. Bottom line is that both schools are wonderful, and thankfully she has those two terrific choices!!

Hey all- DD called OSU today and declined the scholarship and then we drove our check to the post office addressed to Boston University of Admissions! DD is very happy and so am I! Thanks for all of your advice and opinion. ahhhhhhhhhhhh....exhale..................

Congratulations Momnipotent; maybe now your daughter can look into Community Boating on the Charles River (annual Jr. membership $1). Their aim is to make sailing affordable for all! We learned to windsurf and sail there. Love that dirty water!

Glad to see a happy end to this little drama!

Hoo ya! Congratulations! Staht pahking the cah now!

Congrats to your DD - but she must know that in Boston

frappes are milkshakes

r's are regularly (and sometimes randomly) repositioned!

momnipotent
delighted that your girl has earned her own special four years in one of our most distinctive cities in an honors program. congrats to her!

Congratulations! I know she'll be as happy at BU as my S is. Now go check the BU forum for advice on parents and orientation.

Congratulations to your daughter, Mominpotent. Your daughter has shown a great deal of maturity in thinking this through under great pressure. And, you are one great mom to hang in there with her while she made the final decision -- a special hug to you for all you've done to raise such a great kid!

Heady stuff, hmmm!?
Congrats to you & your DD!
You can live on chowder & boston cream pie for months! really!!
Very happy for you both!

Oh thanks you guys (gushing)! I have to share the story of DD being stressed about calling OSU to decline the scholarship. She was afraid of making the call --- worried that they would become upset since she had already verbally committed to accept the Scholarships. The person she spoke with was so kind to her and congratulated her on her acceptance at BU. She also told DD that the young man who would be getting the scholarship in her place had just called asking for any updates. I think DD actually made someone elses day--- happy ending for all. Again...thanks to all. I <3 you guys....

What a great outcome, momnipotent! Knowing that someone else is sitting right by the phone to benefit from the foregone scholarship.... that just makes her decision all the right-er!

Boston is truly the most wonderful place for a college student. Not too soon to buy the Boston Red Sox and Patriot Nation memorabilia either ;).

Congrats. She is going to be so happy next year at BU. And the young man who is receiving the scholarship at OSU is so grateful.

Besides, it's a great feeling to know where you are going to be next year.

The adrep your D talked to sounds really nice and gracious. Your D sounds wonderful, too, to be so concerned!

congrats, momnipotent! Glad to hear it all worked out, for everyone!

Congratulations, it sounds like a happy ending for all.
