HELP! MUCH trouble adding teacher on Common App

I tried adding my teacher on the Common App, but it said that the teacher was an "offline provider" even though I included the email address.

So then I tried typing the teacher's email address differently, yet it still wouldn't work.
Then I tried changing the teacher's name, and it worked!

But now I'm confused, can I use the teacher's recommendation even though the teacher's name isn't correctly listed?

I changed the name to something from Danny Jorgeis to D Jorg (not actually the name)
Is that okay?
Nothing else is working...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

cryscherries,

When you first added your teacher to the Common App with his email address, it listed him as an offline provider because he had been invited by another student and had already opted out of the online system. Teachers and counselors may opt out of the online process entirely. If they do so, any applicant who adds them will see that they are an offline provider, and the system will provide the PDFs for you to print and give to the teacher.

I would add him back as you had him, print out the PDF of the Teacher Evaluation that is listed on the School Forms page after you add him to a college, and give it to him.

If he’s listed as offline even though you entered his email address, it is because he chose to be offline. No worries, just give him the paper to mail in.

Thanks for helping MacGyver!
Your suggestion is probably what I’ll do if this doesn’t work out.
The thing is that this teacher’s email works fine when I don’t type his full last name. However, when I do, the teacher goes up as an “offline provider”.

I think I misspelled the teacher’s email address the first time I added him, is that why I can’t use the same last name again?

Do you, or anyone else, know if it is okay if the name is correctly spelled on the app?

I assume MacGyver is correct, that another student already added your teacher and he/she opted out of the online system. Therefore, they have to fill out the form and send to every school which is a pain because it’s so much easier to just do it online. However, your counselor should be able to do it entirely without your assistance, but you have to provide the names of the colleges and their addresses.

I see, how unfortunate for me.
Is it possible for the teacher to opt back into the system?
Thank you for your time!
