Help, Multiple Options

I am not sure if this is the right forum to be in. Anyways I have multiple options that I could do for college. Please help me decide which one I should do.

A. Wrestle Division IA collegiate wrestling for the Northwestern University Wildcats. I love wrestling, but I am not sure yet if I can compete at a DI level. I went to some of their practices this fall, and those guys are really good. I think if I win state this year have a shot at DI. However I did not like Northwestern that much.

B. Go to Washington University in St. Louis Bears, Kenyon College Lords and Ladies, Emory University Eagles, or some other school that I like a lot more than Northwestern. However theses schools do not even have wrestling. I do not know if I am ready to give up wrestling.

C. Wrestle Division 3A for the St. Olaf College Lions, Knox College Prairie Fire, or Lawrence University Vikings. I know I can compete and challenge for a NCAA championship at that level of wrestling, but I do not like those schools so much.

What should I do?

I just can’t take you seriously with the mascots. It’s really… distracting.

It comes all down to academics as well as athletic ability. Remember, you have a life after college and most likely wrestling will not be a huge part of it. I’d go to Washington University In St. Louis, Lawrence University or St. Olaf, it just depends on the size of school that you like.

Well my fav school is either Kenyon College Lords and Ladies or Washington University in St. Louis Bears.

Id go with Kenyon, Knox, Lawrence or St Olaf

i also agree STOP with the mascots, it is extremely annoying

country day, I’d say go with Washington University In St. Louis Bears!!

I think it annoys me more than anything because it is not grammatically correct to say “my favorite school is Kenyon Lords and Ladies.”

Well the school isn’t called The Kenyon College

Its just called Kenyon

Hey, if you don’t want to help just get out of my thread. I don’t need people complaining to me about mascots. I want help deciding on what to do.

Anybody else have suggestions?

^ I actually honestly think you would get more suggestions if you cut out the mascots. It’s seriously annoying.

Are you really willing to give up wrestling or not? I think that it might make more sense to sacrifice wrestling and go to the schools you really like, but I think it really depends on how much you feel the need to continue wrestling. Personally, I would go with option B.

I feel like I deserve some help considering how many people I have helped out. If you do not like the mascots just read them over. It isn’t that big of a deal. I’ll stop it. Some people are so touchy on here.

Breathe people. It’s really not worth getting worked up about such a trivial matter.

I’ve heard that Northwestern is an awesome school but if you really don’t like options A and C, I’d go with B. Unless wrestling is your entire life, it’s not worth going to a college you hate. And I’m not sure if it would be possible, but maybe you can help make wrestling an intramural. It wouldn’t be as competitive as going to a Division I but you’ll still be able to do something you love.

That is a good idead dreamoutloud. I have thought of making a club team at Kenyon or Washu and competing there. However I should point out that I don’t hate Northwestern. I know I gave it that impression, but I just meant that there are about 5 other schools I like more which happen to be

Washu
Kenyon
Emory
Macalster
Claremont McKenna

Northwestern is the best school on that list. Can you go more in depth about why you don’t like it? I’d say if not NU, go to WashU.

I just think that it is big and I am not too interested in taking a bunch of lecture classes. I wasn’t impressed with the campus and people when I visited. I would probably go to Kenyon because of the small class sizes and I loved the campus and people, and the theater department.

Another big factor to present that I probably should have brought up earlier. My mom works in the admissions dept. at Washu, so if I get in I can go there for free. My wrestling scholarship at Northwestern would pay for almost everything. However my family is very well off and would be able to afford a college education like Kenyon relatively easy.

Does anybody else want to offer their help?

oh definately go to Wash U, then!

Go to the college you like best - regardless of whether it offers wrestling. If you can find a school that you love AND that offers wrestling… that’d be ideal, but if not, choose the overall college over one aspect of it. So I recommend Option B.
However, if you do decide to pick Option A or C, and you like (or dislike) both equally, choose A. Most D3 schools don’t offer athletic scholarships, and obviously Northwestern will.
Hope this helps!
