Help! Music Composition - Questions about Portfolio, Resume, Repertoire

Thank you for the clarification!

I’m done with the CSU apps! Now on to the last step - the Big Boss USC!

I’ll upload my Resume and Repertoire here for your proof reads, is that okay?

Xylophilia, you’ve already put out a good deal of information publicly on this forum–I would caution you to not post a resume here. Perhaps you can message some of the posters privately.

I will do that.

Compmom and SpiritManager, is it okay if I send you my Resume & Repertoire for proofread?

Sure…that’s fine with me.

For the Resume and repertoire - all activities are only things that are related to music, right? I wouldn’t need to put information about a Half Marathon, for example?

I just sent you two PM’s, one with resume and one with repertoire, and answered this question. Let me know by PM whether you receive them or not.

I think you are very modest honestly. I really wish you luck.

So Xylophilia has submitted applications and I want to congratulate Xylo for going after the help needed, here on CC, and for successfully submitting all of the applications mentioned above. I am so impressed with your persistence!

However, I also want to ask folks what they think about one letter of recommendation. If you know anything about the UC’s, CSU’s, or USC for composition, or about the common application (USC uses it), can you clarify how Xylophhilia should proceed regarding letters of recommendation?

I have suggested calling admissions to let them know one recommender was late, and if that is okay, and then contacting the music technology/Reason class teacher or private Logic teacher for a letter.

I believe you just have to submit the name and contact info anyway, not the letter itself. It’s been many years for me since I could even look at the common app so this one last piece of help would be appreciated.

^i am not much use on the LOR/common app because back in the day, mcson had his LORs in advance and included same in his portfolio, which he used separately at all the schools he applied to.

But your suggestion sounds reasonable to me, compmom :)

Btw, kudos, xylophone, on getting it all together. We’ll be rootin for ya :)

Thanks kmcmom. Just to be clear (it was kind of early when I posted last), Xylophilia has only one letter of recommendation.

My memory is that two is required, but I cannot find info on the UC sites.

And I cannot remember the common app!

If two are required, I think the situation can be rectified even though the applications have been submitted.

Any input appreciated, especially from those who are familiar with CA schools but also anyone who has seen the common app recently!

cannot edit- “are” not “is” !

From Spirit Manager, who is traveling:
I don’t think u need recommendations for the state schools. You need two for common app and they always come in after u apply. Academic in two different subjects You need to put down their emails. Xylophilia will probably need a music reference in addition for Bob Cole & Thornton.
