I just completed my common app essay. Though, the slight modifications are still pending, my essay has gone over the word-limit. Limit is between 250-500 words and mine is 630 words long. This personal essay looks so perfect ..removing anything would definetly impede the conveyance of the main idea of my essay. So, what do you guys think? Are the colleges/commonapp gonna be stringent about it?

They don’t want to read that much.
And it shows if you know how to follow directions.

It depends. If its the general common app essay then no. But if its a essay for a non-common app application or a supplement essay where it’s specified, then you better shorten that down to 500 or less. follow directions. Also, just try removing pointless sentences or words. There are ALWAYS ways to shorten an essay.
