HELP! My friend is freaking out over her SAT score...

So I have a friend who recently took a practice SAT exam on Kahn Academy and scored an 1100. We’re both in our freshman year and she wanted me to ask if that’s a phenomenal score for a freshman in high school.

Have you taken algebra 2 yet? If not, the math section will improve after you’ve finished algebra 2.

I don’t think it’s phenomenal, but it’s good – especially if she took the test cold without any prep. D took the old SAT cold as a 7th grader [high school scholarship application] and scored 1070 (as I recall), which equates to something over 1100 on the new test. She later ended with 2370 on the 2400 scale test, so I would say your friend could do very well taking the test as a junior if she continues studying and preparing.

A 1100 isn’t a phenomenal score on the new SAT, but it’s not bad for a freshman in high school. I’m sure your friend will continue to improve over the next few years especially as she takes more high school classes.
