So my dream school is UC Berkeley, and I found that out after it was too late and I ended highschool and got into a college I hate (San jose state). So i want to drop out and go to community college for next semester and onwards, and then go to berkeley after 2 years, but my friend says that community college is so open to people that classes fill up so fast that you dont get enough units to transfer in your junior year, and its way risky. So is it more risky to go to a CCC and try to take all the GE classes, or stay at SJSU for 2 years and try to transfer to a UC from a CSU?!

its a matter of how impacted sjsu is as well, because you can easily end up not getting into the classes you need at sjsu.

what usually ends up happening for most community college students who dont get their classes is that they wait to late to register, when they are well aware of the first open date. most students don't plan ahead, and at community college you may think your counselor has your best interest, but he or she is also seeing thousands of other students, so you really have to be a very independent student.

at least here in los angeles, there's multiple community colleges one can attend. i'm cross enrolled at 3 schools just to get the classes i need at the times i want them. i dont know what its like at your local community colleges but if there's more than one, consider enrolling at more than one. just plan your schedule out, and btw, nothing absolutely nothing guarantees you a transfer to uc berkeley, especially if you're seeking to be considered for one of their many impacted majors. just be realistic about the situation.

CC transfers get top priority for admission to Berkeley, over those transferring from other four year universities. Do not let fear rule your life. Be proactive, seek academic advising, and get (very) good grades. If you can do that, you will have a good chance to transfer to UC Berkeley. Good luck.
