Hello all! I am a international student who is a new student studying at a NE boaring school. I am in great dilemma now: My English is really bad at first, but improved a lot during the first semester. My grade for first semester is C+(78.5)(this won't show up on the transcript). Now I have two choice: 1. have Pass for the first semester, and letter grade for the second semester ( because I improved a lot, I believe my second semester grade should be between B+ and A-) 2. have a two semester average(which will probably be no more than B) In addition, this teacher doesn't like me, and she averages everything and won't consider you are an international student. And The director of study told me that Pass looks bad and suggested me to have the average, but I think if I can get "Pass" for the first semester and an A- for the second, that will be better than get an average B for the whole year. I really don't know which college prefers. Please help me make decision!!!!! Any help is great appreciated!!!! (I am sophomore and I am sure I will have at least an A- for next year English)

Wait, so you’re deciding whether to pass a student on to the next grade with either a C or a B+, but his mom is a teacher?..

Sorry, I couldn’t really understand you. You’re a teacher, right?

He wants to know whether to take a grade like this
First semester: Pass (and the principal says this is bad)
Second semester: B+/A-

or like this

Whole term: B

for college admissions. I have no idea how to answer that.

I’d take the B. The Pass pretty much gives away the fact that you screwed up first semester.

In the long run, it’s not a big deal though. Don’t worry about it.

Those exclamation marks in the title look really neat!
