<p>ukhopeful – Yes, Scottish universities require you to apply to a specific degree programme. Depending on your course, you can move around within the department, but that’s as close as you get to ‘changing major’. The Scottish four-year degree is much more like US degrees programmes, as the first year is more or less introductory. St. Andrews in particular likes American students.</p>
