Hey, Right Now I Just finished my first year at a community college. My overall gpa is probably going to be around a 3.7 I plan on taking summer courses and graduating within a year and a half. I’ll be getting my associates in computer science and would like to go on to a 4 year school and get my bachelors in Computer Information Systems. I’m starting to look at colleges to apply to this summer and honestly have no idea where to look. I’m from NY and have been thinking of maybe Rutgers, OSU, U of Rochester, but other than that I have no idea. Also please take into consideration that I would like to be offered scholarships from these schools. Oh and is Carnegie Mellon that big of a reach for me? (haha I think it is)
Basically give me some colleges I should look into…..Any help is appreciated!

anyone.............????

it depends on ur other stats I would say- like ur high school records, SATs to some extent and other factors like recs,ECs and community contributions- If you are big on all of these, I wouldn't say Carnegie Mellon would be too much of a reach...

HS transcripts have very little bearing on admissions decisions at your point in the admissions process. Some schools don't even require transcripts after a full year of college work, while others request it, but only for graduation verification and whatnot. As for the schools you listed, anything above a 3.6 and an Associates will give you a really good shot, even to Carnegie Mellon. You might even want to get a few more reaches because your stats are pretty good. You might want to look into RIT. Based on the colleges you listed, I'm guessing you're looking for a good party atmosphere along with your academic needs, which RIT lacks, but it is one of the best Computer related schools on the East coast.

Thanks alot, ya i was thinking rit at first but I heard it was pretty boring. I mean im not gonna party every night, just on weekends : )
Anymore suggestions guys?!
