Help narrow down college list. PLEASE!?

I want to major in history, or engineering or computer science or physical sciences, and i want a school that has some variety for these majors not only civil engineering or whatever, not sure what kind of engineering i want to do yet. Also, I want a school within four hours of NYC (MY HOME), so a school in Massachussetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

GPA: 3.4/4
RANK: School doesnt rank

SAT (1st time)
Math: 660
Verbal: 510
Writing: 640

SATIs to be taken again in October.... (let's be hopeful)

MY SCHOOL IS ONE OF THE SCHOOLS IN NEW YORK CITY THAT OFFERS ONLY HONORS COURSES, SO BY THE END OFSENIOR YEAR I WILL HAVE 20+ HONORS CLASSES.

...and I have some random academic awards to my name...just school awards, though.

EC's
Basketball- freshman, sophmore,senior
Soccer- senior year
Ping Pong club
volunteer tutoring Polish kids the english language

Had a paying job for two months in freshman year tutoring kids but after that I decided to do it for free but only did it 30 hours every year.

**My definite colleges are

COMFORT---UMASS- AMherst, University of New Hampshire
REACHES--- Syracuse(Comfort/Reach), Penn State- University Park, University of Delaware, University of Connecticut(C/R), Northeastern(C/R)

That is seven definite colleges but i wanna apply to more because a lot of kids from my school are applying to those schools and im afraid of the competeition. I want to apple to like 10-12 colleges.

I am stuck between
SAFETIES---University of Rhode Island, Hofstra, Marist
COMFORT- Fairfield, Quinnipiac, Ithaca Colllege, Rutgers and University of Vermont.

I am looking for a college that has a beautiful campus. Has a lot of choices in majors and pretty good parties but thats not that important to me.**

any help????

If you looking for a college that has a beautiful campus. Has a lot of choices in majors and pretty good parties. This is must apply list.
Hofstra, Rutgers, University of Vermont, Ithaca Colllege
Penn State- University Park, University of Delaware, Syracuse.

Rutgers has a nice campus? Any other help.

dude, i've spent plenty of time on rutgers' campus. that is NOT a selling point, i'm sorry. Try Swarthmore if you want campus.

UMBC's not a bad school within your parameters, btw, and neither are a bunch in Massachusetts. Check out UMass, there's something for everyone there in a big college-student region.

i dont want to add on any more schools. i dont like UMBC and Swarthmore is another reach for me that i dont need. UMASS is one of my definite comforts. any other help?

SAFETY- University of Rhode Island, Marist
COMFORT---UMASS- AMherst, University of New Hampshire
REACHES--- Syracuse(Comfort/Reach), Penn State- University Park, University of Delaware, University of Connecticut(C/R), Northeastern(C/R)

THIS IS MY LIST SO FAR. I Need to pick 2 out of these 3, which ones?

QUINNIPIAC, RUTGERS(BRUNSWICK) OR ITHACA? WHICH TWO?

You're gonna let some kid on an internet forum make that choice for you?

Definitely keep Rutgers. Out of the other two, both look like nice campuses but do not offer much in terms of choices. Ithaca is known in our area (upstate NY) as the college where people go who want to become physical therapists. It also shares the town of Ithaca with Cornell. That could be a plus or a minus.
Application fees: Quinnipiac is 30, Ithaca is 55. For a lack of any other reason, save $25 and drop Ithaca.

Why did you suggest that I keep Rutgers?

QUINNIPIAC, RUTGERS(BRUNSWICK) OR ITHACA? WHICH TWO? AND WHY?

Dude, just apply to all of them. One extra school is not going to kill you.

Yeah, I guess.

Rutgers has all the majors you are looking at. That is why I chose that one of the three you mentioned.
To be honest it is hard to compare these choices you have made as they are incredibly varied as far as size and academics go. I have to agree with venkater, if it is stressing you that much just apply to all three. At this point your time is much more valuable than the extra $50 you would spend. You could be doing apps now instead of deciding where to apply.

okay thanks.

A little further away but worth the drive,Miami University in Oxford ,Ohio.

Mass: Umass, Tufts (Both schools in good college locations)
RI: URI, Providence College
NJ: Rutgers (Good value and school's rep will improve with football team's success)
VT: UVT
Have you considered Lehigh? I think it might be a good choice, as well.

I don't believe Tufts or Lehigh are viable options...

Try:
Union, Trinity, Lafayette, Lehigh.

I dont NEED MORE CHOICES. i already have a lot.
union- not a lot of engineering choices
trinity- high reach
lafayette-reach- dont need anymore
lehigh-reach

do you go to townsend harris or midwood by anychance..im assuming with the 'all honors courses.' you'll probably get some sort of scholarship to hofstra if you do apply, practically 80% of the people there do, i even got full tuition coverage but didnt go. the campus is ehh..not that great. plus, its surrounded by the somewhat 'ghetto' part of long island in hempstead. penn state seems perfect. keep ithaca..nice campus..nice surrounding area.
