Hi guys,
I need help in narrowing down my list because I don’t want to spend too much money on applications. I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, from a lower to middle-class income family. I plan to stay in the Midwest because I don’t want to stress my parents out with plane tickets and other travel expenses.
My stats:
3.7 UW, 3.87 W
29 ACT, 30 superscored
Hispanic/Asian
okay EC’s- been in orchestra since 4th grade, NHS, First Class, Special Olympics, volunteer at church
currently working at a dentist, and am planning on going into pre-dentistry
didn’t take the SAT
Colleges I’m planning on applying to:
UIUC (mainly because of in-state and it’s a pretty good school. Pretty concerned about financial aid because it is public and the in-state is still pretty costly)
U of Cincinnati
Marquette University
IU Bloomington (I love the campus a lot, and a family member works there so he’s going to see what he can do about tuition because it’s very very costly. If he can’t do much I probably will not end up going)
St. Olaf (heard that they have very good financial aid)
Through QuestBridge:
Oberlin (recently got into their MVP Program so I’m hoping that gives me a better chance of being admitted)
Macalester
Emory (added this pretty last minute because I love the area lol)
Colleges I already applied to:
U of Minnesota, Twin Cities (I originally wasn’t going to to save $60 but the fee is waived and my score was already sent so I just did it anyway)
Loyola in Chicago
I am mostly going to be relying on financial aid as my EFC was pretty low and I feel as if my scores aren’t high enough to get a lot of merit scholarships. Any suggestions on what I should take out or consider would be great. Thanks!
