hi, im a current junior and I've so far come to decide on two big fields: the environmental/alternative/new energies path, and CS.

is there any major which includes both(preferably with a focus on the new energies part). also, if I am applying to the UC's, say Berkeley, should I apply to the college of engineering, or the college of natural resources. if there is no way I can pursue both, I would prefer the env./alternative energies path.im assuming most UC's, not just berk. have similar colleges.

brief academic summary
(current gpa: 3.6( up upward trend by senior year), retake sat, right now at 2100 though)

For Berkeley specifically, the most appropriate majors are all in the College of Engineering:

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS): most alternative energy involves conversion to electric power (EE), and students majoring in EECS can take additional CS courses easily within their majors.
Energy Engineering: [Energy Engineering — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](Energy Engineering - Berkeley Engineering)

Environmental Engineering Science: [Environmental Engineering Science — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/departments/engineering-science/environmental-engineering-science.html)

Other engineering majors, with appropriate choice of in-major electives (as described in the Environmental Engineering Science page above).

Note that Energy Engineering and Environmental Engineering Science are not ABET-accredited. If ABET accreditation is important to you (for Professional Engineer licensing (most common for civil engineering) or patent law), you may want to select an ABET-accredited degree program with appropriate in-major electives.
