Help Narrowing Down my List

Hi! I will be applying to colleges this summer/fall, and was hoping I could get some help narrowing down my list.

University of South Carolina (visited and loved)
University of North Carolina
Indiana University (visited and loved)
Boston College
Notre Dame (visited and loved)
University of Michigan (live 20 minutes away)
Florida State University
University of Wisconsin (visited and loved)
Georgia Tech

I am interested in studying business. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Also, I probably prefer urban campus’, however if the college has a nice town near it (like Bloomington at IU), I don’t mind if it is not urban. The size of these schools is not extremely important to me, as they all have D1 sports and good school spirit. (I am not basing my schools off of sports, but I would like to have them there).

Have you run net price calculators and read the admissions website carefully to see if you qualify for any merit aid? Sometimes money talks. You don’t mention your stats, but you could sort them by likely versus reach schools as well.

Nine schools is not too many to consider if you can afford all the application fees and such. (And if you can’t, think twice about out-of-state publics.) Start early, though, in case you don’t finish them all!

@AroundHere I have a 33 ACT and a 3.89 UW GPA, 4.0556 Weighted GPA.
I have looked at the prices for most of them, and the only two that would be completely unreasonable would be Indiana and Wisconsin, but Wisconsin was my favorite when I toured and IU has a great business school.

That’s a really broad range of schools geographically, culturally, and academically. And without knowing your high school record, it’s impossible to know which would even be realistic for you. Admission to Florida State (even OOS) will be a different ballgame from admission to Notre Dame, for example. Please provide a bit more info about your background so people can give informed advice.

@sheepskin00 I received a 33 on my ACT, a 3.89 Unweighted GPA, a 4.0556 weighted GPA. I have been apart of student congress, key club, national honors society, and have 300+ hours of community service. I am also part of varsity golf and tennis at my school. So far I have taken 4 AP courses and 4 honors courses. Senior year I will be taking two more APs and one more honors course. I also have a 740 on my US History subject test and a 710 (I know it’s not great) on my Math II subject test. I have received a 5 on my AP Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and US History, and a 4 on my AP stats test. Senior year I will take AP Spanish (year 5) and AP Calc AB.

Also I will be golf team captain and student congress treasurer next year.

If they are financially unreasonable, you need to cross them off the list, no matter how much you liked them when you visited.

At UofSC you would likely get an OOS tuition waiver which brings cost down considerably
