I have lots of impressive ECs. Top 12-13% of my class. Very competitive high school. I am bilingual.

I have never had any schooling in English and took the SAT without preperation. I WILL BE RETAKING THEM so my score should improve, overall, by about 100 points.

M : 580
W : 690
CR : 710

I took the SAT II without having ever taken a World History class, as they are not offered at my school (we don't get to choose our classes). AP tests are not offered at my school.

I will be taking them again as well so expect about a 100 point increase in WH, and about 50 point increase in Math.

WH : 580
M : 640
French : 800

I will be majoring in International Relations and I want to go to a big school (5000 MINIMUM), in or very near Boston, New York City or Washington DC.

My current list is :

REACHES :
Harvard
Brown
Georgetown

MATCHES :
George Washington U (ED)
U of Wisconsin - Madison
U of Maryland - College Park
Tufts U (legacy)
American U
Boston U

SAFETIES :
U of Colorado - Boulder

I really need some help finding one more safety and one more match.
It needs to be in a safe area too.

North Eastern is a good school and would be a good match for you. It's jsut as good as BU. It's right in Boston and really emphasises work experience/paid internships with their co-op program. Undergrad Enrollment:14,616.

Thanks.
I actually went to visit it this summer and the area didn't seem very safe to me. Maybe I was just on the wrong side of the campus though, cause I hear so many people raving about the campus!

Northeastern is just as safe as BU. Noting that BU doesn't really have a campus. Also North Eastern is right next to Fenway park which is one of the greatest places on Earth to be if you love baseball. And unsafe only if your wearing a Yankees Hat lol. Also Boston College is the best school out of BU and North Eastern. Prob the "safest" out of all of them too and has more of an enclosed campus. Not the entire city Campus BU has. During hockey games BC fans often chant "safety school" at the BU fans. I always thought that was really funny. I'm from Boston so feel free to ask about the schools around here.

These colleges don't fit the 'big' criteria, but they are in the Boston area which is college central - so there is certainly a critical mass of students.

Hampshire College in Amherst, MA - strong match.
Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA - strong match.

Thanks
adidasjed - I heard BC was really conservative though, and kind of preppy. I'm quite liberal and REALLY can't stand to be surrounded by 10'000 people with their collars popped. What do you think/know about that?

You might take a look at George Mason University, a Virginia public U, right outside of D.C. They have an excellent public and international affairs program, with many connections within the beltway for internships. Here is the link: http://pia.gmu.edu/ I'd probably choose it over Colorado as a safety, especially if you want to be on the east coast and have proximity to D.C. and internship opportunities.

Farther from D.C., but still worth a look, would be Towson University in Maryland, the U of Delaware, Penn State, Mary Washington University and James Madison U in Virginia. All would probably fall into the safe match range for you.
Good luck.

If your SAT score does not improve, maybe you should consider not applying to harvard. Rutgers-New Brunswick could be a match, and University of Pittsburgh could be a safty.
