Help-need near full ride from schools that are still taking applications?

Does anyone know schools that are still taking applications and would give great financial aid for a 4.0, 35 ACT student? His parents are idiots and lost all chances of decent financial aid in the last 2 days so basically starting from scratch. Thanks in advance if you have any ideas!

I don’t know anyplace offhand but starting here may give him some options to look into further http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/291483-update-what-i-learned-about-free-ride-scholarships.html?highlight=full+ride+texas</a> Good luck!

Thank you mathmomvt. I’ll check it out but am realizing that we are up against the wall wtih the deadlines. I hope someone else here knows something!

Some of these did have Dec 1 deadlines, but some are still open.

also…I know that UAB says that it has a Dec 1 priority deadline, but it is still awarding merit scholarships. UAB is very good for those in science or pre-med or dental majors.

I’ve already suggested UAB - I think it’s a great option.

I’ve posted a list of automatic full-ride scholarships here[/url”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/15097396-post1.html]here, but I don’t honestly think that any of them is as attractive as the combination of automatic and competitive scholarships that might be available to a science & technology honors student at UAB.

Has Santa Clara’s deadlines past?

I wouldn’t have him start at a CC because he’ll lose his “incoming frosh” status and those get the best aid and merit.

Automatic full ride at Louisiana Tech, but hurry the priority deadline is 5 Jan.

Lots of schools will be interested with stats that high. Not sure of the deadlines, but look at LSU, Mississippi State, NC State, and Clemson.

^^^

Definitely Miss State. And, they have very good eng’g.

Thank you, I am checking into all of these. Please continue to post if you find more!

Check out University of Kentucky. Their scholarship app deadlines are January 15th.

Before making a hasty decision, remember that a gap year is always an option. With stats that high, the student will certainly have great options next year. Use the year to work and save money, or perhaps start a volunteer project.

The important thing to keep in mind is that merit scholarships are far more generous for incoming freshmen than for transfers. Taking a gap year would preserve freshman status, but even a couple classes at a CC might result in transfer status.
