HELP!!! need opinions! poor writing SAT and no more test before early admissions

<p>Trying to get into tech with the below.<br>
I live in Georgia, and I am a white dude (not helping)</p>

<p>SAT:
Math - 740 (missed 2)
Reading - 600
Writing - 450 (Does this matter?), 8 essay</p>

<p>APs:
Junior-
AP Chemistry (99)
AP Chemistry, lab (96)
AP Computer Science A (97, 96)
Senoir-
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP Bio (two semesters like chem)
AP Physics</p>

<p>Other Core Classes:
Highest math and science classes: Honors Chem, Honors Bio, Honors Alg, Honors Alg II, Honors Geometry, Honors trig/adv alg (pre calc)</p>

<p>all regular lit and history FTW</p>

<p>Electives:
Mostly all computer classes (CTAE), lifetime sports, filmhistory, Spanish I and II</p>

<p>Grades:
All high As mostly, but i got an 89 in spanish II (don't get me started)
My GPA is definetly in the top 10 percent of if not the best public schools in the state (georgia though) it has highest sat scores in the state</p>

<p>EC's:
Beta club (did a tutoring program)</p>

<p>National Honors Society (step up from beta)</p>

<p>4 years varsity swim team 1 year of junior</p>

<p>Scolastic all american for USA swimming (3.5+ gpa and you go to sectionals meet, between state and nationals)</p>

<p>internship summer of junior year with IT guy at the University of Georgia</p>

<p>I will probably swim for gt but i want to get in on merit so i don't look like a jock or if i get injured</p>

<p>also my older brother went to georgia tech, and he was an alumni </p>

<p>I really don't think Georgia Tech will be concerned about writing. I want to be in the software engineering area of computer science. My older brother was Chemical Engineering with terrible reading, 500 and 760 math (i missed same number of questions but SAT hates me). I have been urged strongly not to apply after early admissions. Could I submit an early application then another application with my new SAT score? What are my chances as is?</p>

<p>I got an 800 in Writing (with a 12/12 on the essay). I think I can help you out a bit on the writing section. Here are my tips:</p>

<p>For the essay

  1. Your essay needs to be at or near 400 words or more (covering both pages completely in relatively small handwriting). 90% of all essays with 400+ words received a perfect score of 12.
  2. Use some impressive vocabulary. It always gives off a good vibe and makes you look like you know what you’re talking about. Good grammar structure and clear, concise writing is key, since SAT graders spend less than 3 minutes reading each essay.
  3. Write neatly and effectively. Cut straight to the point: don’t beat around the bush.
  4. Have strong examples. My favorite technique is to have three examples to prove my point: one from history, one from a current event, one from my personal life. Have at least two strong examples in your essay.</p>

<p>For the multiple choice:

  1. Buy the Barron’s book on SAT writing and study grammar rules, including subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and prepositional phrase placement.
  2. Take practice tests! Always the best way to familiarize youreslf more with the tests.</p>
