I want to transfer to a school that I know I could get in based off of my high school records but I am currently a freshman at a different school and my fall semester I took 17 hours and quickly became overwhelmed and depressed. Therefore my grades suffered greatly. I have a 1.5 GPA, which is awful to me considering I took all honors and AP in high school and graduated with a 3.9. I want to know if my chances are high of transferring to another school in the fall with just one semester of college work. I know I should try this semester but I honestly don’t know if I am strong enough after all that I dealt with this past fall. I would talk to my parents about this but with the high expectations they have for me and how I let them down already, I’m scared to talk to them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Are you back at college for the spring semester? Can you just take a leave of absence from your current college/university and pull yourself together? The most important thing right now is to sort out your mental health issue. Everything else can wait.
During the semester off, you can think about whether College A is where you really want to be after all, or if you want to go ahead and apply for transfer to College B, and maybe C, D, and E.
