Alright here's my situation: I'm applying SCEA to Stanford. I took the SAT in June and didn't do so well (560CR/740M/650W=1950). The 650 writing is with a 7 on the essay :( Then I took 2 SAT Subject Tests on Oct6 (Chem&MathIIC). I think I did well on the chem (780+) but I screwed up the math somewhat (I'm hoping 740+). Now I've also taken the ACT twice with the following scores:
1.
E:34
M:35
R:36
S:26
Writing:10
Composite:33

Here's my question: Do I send a score report from collegeboard to Stanford considering my mediocre SAT score and without knowing how I did on the subject tests? Do you think my ACTs are strong enough already? The thing is I don't want them to see my crappy SAT score (essay score especially) but they STRONGLY RECOMMEND taking 2 sat subject tests. would i be at an extreme disadvantage if i didn't submit sat subject test scores? What should I do????

only thing i could say, ACT's are fishy out on the west coast.
it's a midwest thing (the ACT), and i am not sure the midwest is particularly known for elite things of any sort

Your second ACT score far outweighs your SAT I. Ask them to consider that, first off. As for your SAT IIs, you'd better do it if its strongly recommended. You really don't have much room for that. They'll probably just consider ACT anyway.

I'm applying Stanford SCEA too...I have to get them all in by today?
I think Nov 1 is just the Stanford deadline...has nothing to do w/ changing SAT or w/e.

I think you should send the scores (definitely both of your ACT scores too!). Stanford will see your excellent ACT scores and your very good SAT II scores. They'll also see your not-great SAT score, but will probably chalk it up to a bad test day, since it is out of line with your other scores. I assume you have a great GPA??

If the school says SAT II's are "strongly recommended," then send them.

Thanks for the advice oregonianmom. btw i have a 4.0 gpa so yeah that's not an issue. Do you think i should submit both act scores considering i got a 26 on science on the first one? however, i think i must have screwed up with my bubbling because science is one of my strongest subjects and i was expecting around a 34-36 which is why i took it again. do you think stanford will know this?

If you send your SAT II, do you have to send in SAT? If you do, then forget it, I would just send in ACT. Your regular SAT scores are low. If you have no other hook, you need 2200+.

If you send in your SAT scores, they will be part of your stat. That's why I ask if you have to send in regular SAT scores if you send in SAT II scores.

but what about the subject tests? i've taken ap chem and ap calc and i got a 5 on both. can i send those scores in lieu of the sat score report?
