Help - need your opinion

Giving out teacher recommendations tommorow. Intended to use art teacher for 3rd (not math or language arts) teacher recommendation because my daughter is a good artist and the teacher really knows my daughter well and thought it would show another side to her. My daughter has also taken art club for 3 years with this teacher. One school says it should be from an 'other major academic subject'. Should I assume that art doesn't apply? Are they looking for social studies or science or can we use the art teacher?

Art is pushing it a little bit, but so long as she is taking it as an academic class (not an after-school activity), it is fair. If you feel that teacher knows your child best, then go for it. However, if it is an afterschool activity, it may be better to wait use that teacher for the personal/EC recomendations. Really, it doesn't matter that much. More important is what the teachers have to say about her.

Actually it's both - academic and an after school EC.Anyone else want ot weigh in?

I would just call the school that says they want it from an 'other major academic subject'. It's probably OK for the other schools. In most schools, science, language and social studies would qualify as the other major academic subjects. In this case, you need to know if that is what they mean.

Thanks for your responses. I figured I'd call in the morning but was looking for opinions during the night. As I anticipated, Burb Parent had the correct thought. Needs to be from language, science or social studies teacher.

I'm giving out my teacher recommendations next Monday or the following Monday. I'm not sure yet.
