help needed asap!! (UCLA, CMU and Hopkins)

Hi guys!
So.. I am majoring in electrical/computer engineering and i'm down to my top 3 choices (UCLA, Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins) and I really don't know how to choose out of the three..

My perspective on each is:

UCLA
Pro: Very big/social school, people seemed to love being there. Also coming from San Diego, it's a very familiar environment for me to live in and I don't really mind living in a rich neighborhood.

Con: It's too big for everyone to get research opportunities and the attention you would get from a private institution.

Carnegie Mellon
Pro: Very very good engineering program, especially for ECE. You're future is set if you manage to graduate

Con: Very rigorous course work, no time for social life (or so i've heard), very small active student body

Johns Hopkins
Pro: Beautiful campus, good people, big focus on undergraduates and a lot of research/project/internship opportunities

Con: only a decent ECE program, one of the ece students told me it's even harder than bme in his opinion

Sorry to start another comparison thread but i really need every help i can get.
please give me your opinions on these schools and if you agree/disagree with my take on them, please state the reason. thanks a lot guys!

if money is issue…UCLA hands down

if money is not issue…I’d go to Hopkins…Hopkins is a better school in general and will take care of u more…and who knows u may change ur mind about EE and Carnegie Mellon is only good for EE…hopkins is thus more flexible…also UCLA engineering isn’t that great…and when most ppl tell u the love being there its the north campus (english, etc) not south campus majors (science, engineering) ppl who are telling u that lol…but if u wanna make a living off of EE then I’d go to Hopkins

I disagree with most of what mnop444 said, but I do agree that if money is an issue, choose UCLA.

I was accepted into both CMU and UCLA for Computer Science (no, CMU isn’t only good for EE…not even close) and chose to come to UCLA because I wanted a very balanced and enjoyable college experience. They definitely work you at CMU but you’ll have an endless amount of opportunities for research, hands-on projects with big organizations, internships, etc. I’m not saying you can’t find these at UCLA, but CMU is definitely more prestigious in the field.

I’ll add more later but I have to run. Good luck and congratulations!

Madeinchina, how has UCLA worked out for you so far? both in terms of academics and your social life?

Sent you a PM.

^I would like to know as well, as I’m in a similar dilemma. Would you mind pming me as well?
Thanks!!

MadeInChina = baller status. Guy has done well for himself at UCLA
