I wrote a science fiction book. I was desperate for extra money during the pandemic. Everyone that read my book was real quiet. It was my first book, so I’ll take that as maybe it sucked and I should keep my day job, Lol!! I did have a publisher that showed interest after sending it to hundreds of people, but I would have to come up with $3k for some of the costs.
I’m going to re-write most of it to make the characters more interesting and add some plot twists. If I were one to advise, don’t take it too seriously. A book that turns a profit is a rare thing in the literature world. They look for books that have a high chance of selling. Unfortunately, what seems to sell nowadays are books loaded with garbage.
Amazon would provide the ISBN number. But I recommend paying $$ to get a good e-cover. Amazon has some generic book covers, but they mostly suck. Make sure you get good software to format your book for the size you want in advance. Then you can export it and upload the manuscript.
You are right. I do understand it is hard to make money writing books. I am writing to cope with loss of my very young family members. So far it has been very helpful. I just want to complete it and get it published I certainly enjoyed writing it, but I don’t have too much expectations.

I just found out after uploading my book the page number counts are messed up🤣.
As of now it is huge! My laptop count was 355 but Amazon book layout count is 600+
So I am in the process of splitting few chapters out of this one and including it in second book.
Loving all my journey so far! Want to cut it to less than 400.
So far 30+ people have RSVPd for my book launch party next Sunday!
It is a huge deal for me! I don’t have any family other than hubby and two kids.
I always assume if I were to die today,probably not even four people will show up at my funeral since we have very little social life.
So I am ecstatic this many kind people are willing to attend my launch party!
Yes! But I have uploaded a condensed version yesterday. Being a first time writer. I didn’t realize laptop page count will be different than a book page count!
So I edited and cut out 185 pages in 1 day! It was an amazing experience.
So the smaller paperback and kindle version is still under review.
