I go to a catholic/jesuit private school. Im a junior with a 2.7 cumulative gpa, haven't taken SAT(school just started) and I'm really nervous. every day its hard to even sleep thinking ill disappoint my parents and won't get into a university. will going to a jesuit/catholic private school help me get into catholic/jesuit universities? I wanted to now if you think I can get into FIU, and any other Business universities I can get into? thanks so much. it really means a lot please help

I don’t know about FIU because it is out of my geographical region, but to answer the Catholic question, it is a mixed bag. Some will look at it and some will not, however it is more applicable to scholarships at Catholic colleges as there are often scholarships designed specifically for those from a Catholic church. Many of those do not require a specific high school GPA so that is on your side.

Please realize that no amount of worry will change things. It would be better to put that effort into trying to raise your grades just a hair over the next year. It may be difficult but getting your GPA up to a 3.0 would be a great asset for you going forward.

Finally realize that there are many options for you beyond trying to get into the most prestigious school you can dream of…Community Colleges, private smaller Liberal Arts Colleges, and many of the regional public colleges have admissions standards that are geared towards students who are motivated, but perhaps got off to rough starts in high school. If you are motivated to go to college, you will find a college that works for your situation.

I live in florida so I’m close to fiu. you think Fiu will deny me? I’m pretty positive i can raise my gpa to a 3.0 easily, junior year hasn’t been that hard, and I’m taking a tutor for my hardest subject, science. Any Universities you think i have a chance of getting into? anything is appreciated.

and your saying since i come from a jesuit order school, i can get into for example, a jesuit university?

I have no idea if FIU would or not as I’m just not familiar with their admissions rates…(I’m from the Midwest and more familiar with schools out here)…But for example, Rockhurst University in Kansas City would more than likely accept you as a student and perhaps have some money for you as it is a Jesuit institution.
