I am a college counselor with a student who has applied to arts and sci; he received an email today from the Collins Learning Center congratulating him on his admission with an ad (with accolades from current students) encouraging him to apply for the learning community...

Here's the rub (and hence my question).....he hasn't been admitted; hasn't heard back yet....

Anybody get this email? and does anyone lurking on here know if this is another mass college screw-up?

I also received this email today and was very confused since I also haven’t been accepted yet. I checked my status online and it said it still hadn’t received my transcript so they couldn’t review my application yet. Weird.

Don’t worry. There’s a new system for admissions this year that is screwing everything up. Tell him to check OneStart. Also, warn your student that Collins is infamous for being the townie dorms with drug problems.

Someone on the “Anyone apply yet?” thread posted this today:

Collins Learning Center sent an email to my DD telling her she was accepted. We got all excited. We called to confirm because her one start still shows incomplete items and they told us that email was a mistake. But then they said as of 10/16 she has been admitted. Then they said no wait that is our IUPUI campus. Put me on hold and came back and said it would be ANOTHER 8-10 days for an answer.

So that was frustrating and disappointing. Hopefully it turns out good news in the end, but this is the one school that we are worried she won’t get into.

That is my post from the other thread and that email was sent to over 5,000 students in error. They said official acceptance or denial notification will post on one start. Also told us it will be another couple weeks and my daughter.applied a month ago.

This is extremely late but after I got that e-mail, the office of admissions e-mailed me a few days later apologizing for the e-mail and it is no indication of my admission status :)
