Help needed with Summer Programs

Hey guys! Feeling a bit tense here since it's my first post at CC :)

As an Intl Student I was looking for summer programs since I wanted to experience college life and learn social sciences (my passion) as much as I could! But I want to enter a selective program... Sincerely, I don't think a "pay your way inside" program would look good in my application :/

Soooo would you mind helping me rate these programs according to their acceptance rates and academic quality?
The programs are:
Summer@Brown (not the 7 week courses!)
Columbia's NY program (Trial Advocacy one to be more specific)
Cornell (not the nanotech one!)
U of Chicago
Georgetown (Fundamentals of Law and the normal Summer Courses)
Harvard (SSP)
NYU (Pre-College)
Penn State (Pre-College 6-week)
Yale (Credit Courses)

I also heard about Oxbridge and read some posts saying it's not selective at all, so I would like more opinions regarding this one as well...

Lastly, if you wanna give me any suggestions I would be more than pleased! Just keep in mind the acceptances and academics (social sciences + good quality)

Thanks for the help!! Hope another student like me can benefit from the answers =D!

Perhaps you could try for TASP. It’s somewhat humanities-based and you might like it.

I am not sure, but aren’t all of these “pay your way” programs? Not that you don’t need some qualifications to get in… but you need a lot of dough for each of these as well. Plus travel for you from Brazil, of course.

As I could see from previous posts, some of the programs I’ve listed are selective, such as Harvard and Yale… I guess that the most important thing regarding those summer schools is that you’ll be demonstrating that you’re not all about summer (in my case winter vacations :D) partying and relaxing… I guess it’s also valuable for making contacts (some teachers write rec letters for good stud) and enhancing your “Why X University” Essay…

Thanks for the TASP tip! I’ll be looking thoroughly to see if I’ve got any chances :)

And, yes, being intl sometimes suck… Any of those programs offer financial aid for intl people…

I’m accepting further comments and suggestions ! !
Thank you so far! ;)

TBH, the programs you listed aren’t that selective. Colleges use them to make money. See http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/538843-finally-truth-about-columbia-university-high-school-program.html?highlight=truth+columbia</a>

Totally agree. I’m an international too. TASP is free I think.

I really wana get out to NYU precollege this summer.

The summer schools at Harvard and Yale are definitely not super-selective…if you have the money and a decent academic record, you will be accepted. But they are a good way to experience college life. However, I would also suggest TASP since that program is insanely selective and prestigious. But you may have to hurry because I think the application deadline is coming up soon.
