Help Needed!!!!

Hey guys,
I am an international applicant (from India). I just completed my 10th grade this march. I was just wondering if I stand a chance at MIT.
Note: I live in a small country (quite far from India). But, I am an Indian Citizen.
My stats are:

Was also a semi-finalist at a national televised quiz show
I also achieved a gold Medal in the International Olympiad Of English Language (IOEL), Smart Kid General Knowledge Olympiad (SKGKO) International Olympiad Of Science and silver medals in International Olympiad Of Mathematics. The last 4 olympiads were conducted by Silverzone in India.

Recommendations : Great

SAT/SAT2 : not taken as of know but would expect >2000 in SAT 1 and >2300 in SAT 2

Since I am an international applicant from India, I would like to know my chances for admission to MIT if :
1) I apply for the class of 2016. ( one year in advance)
2) I apply for the class of 2017. ( as people normally do)

Help would be really appreciated...

Thanks in advance

Hey! I think everything seems to be in order. Your profile is very good!
I dunno, from what I’ve read on these forums, I’ve noticed that adcoms are not very enthusiastic toward students applying a year early. There was a similar thread on the Yale forum about some kid applying at a young age but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t students who join college early. You could still try, but you could also build up your profile more and then apply. (although your profile is already spectacular. Most students haven’t done half of what you’ve done in 9th+10th by the time they graduate, so you do have an advantage.)

Don’t underestimate your ability to score well in the SATs. Do a lot of practice tests and figure out how the exam works. Even the essay prompts in SAT are pretty repetitive.
It’s not tough, 6th-10th standard math and writing can be brought up with practice. CR is the comparatively tough nut to crack…here only practice tests can help you out.

All in all, I think your profile is very competitive, and I think (assuming that your essays are good at the least- VERY important) youshould get into some very good schools.

Are you asking for financial aid?

You live in India right ?

Where the hell am I living these years ?
International Olympiads…**** man…Never tried :(

Btw, your profile looks very good to me, cause I dont have any extras
If all these are not exaggerated then don’t worry, you have a chance to crack MIT.

Ah, that’s a great profile. You stand a lot of chance.

Thanks a lot guys…appreciate it…

Just curious…has any indian student got into MIT a year or more in advance?

Does MIT permit students to take a gap year for completing high school?

You need a gap-year to complete school? Just wondering, do you even know what a gap-year is?

I am still in 11th grade and I am thinking of applying to MIT this year. Of course, I know what a gap year is. I was just wondering that if I get accepted, can I take a gap year to complete my schooling? I want to apply a year in advance as even if I got rejected this year, I would have one more chance to go next year.

But, of course, if i do get selected a year early, I would perfectly wish to attend MIT. However, I dont know whether my parents will allow me to skip 12th. But, this all can happen only if I do get selected (the chances of the opposite happening are quite high though)

Is MIT actually need-blind? I dont know whether I will be able to afford or not, but if its going to hurt my chances of getting admitted, I would rather not apply for fin aid at all.

^financial need is seperately evaluated…as in the adcoms do not have a slight clue if you’re rich or not. The money business falls under the financial aid building of MIT. MIT is one of the few schools that will offer aid to internationals I believe.

MIT is need blind for every1.

If your family earns < 75000 $ / yr - You’ll get full tuition waived :D

To apply in the 11th Grade you need to have done the requsite number of AP courses and taken the SAT by middle of 11th Grade- right?

How early can a student take the SAT and how long is it valid?

Can a student study AP courses at home and take all 5 AP exams by end of 11th Grade(provided his school/city has centres where the subject is offered?)
