Help needed!

Ok I need to know what and how to do to get into ANY bs/md program. (I'm a junior)

I took the SAT's and got 1350 (just verbal and math) and I retook them and have yet to find out the score but hoping it is about 1400 ish.

I am going to take the Bio, Chem , and MathII SAT II's and am shooting for 700's on all of them.

Unweighted GPA for this year should be about 3.9 ish. I don't know for sure what it is now cuz I just moved to a new school. Rank should be top 5%.

I have volunteered at hospitals and will continue to do so and I am hopefully going to be involved in some research this summer as well.

However my problem comes with the ec's I have to babysit my younger sister everyday after school and I am not involved in anything except NHS which I can barely do. And I've been babysitting my sister afterschool for the past 4 years so I haven't really been able to do anything except in the summer where I lead some church groups and volunteer but that's it. The only thing I could do with this is just (in a one page letter) say to the adcom's that it has taught me responsibilty.

So any advice at all? Or should I just give up hope and not apply?

make sure you explain that you had family obligations that prevented you from pursuing ecs. They are usually fine with that. And get involved in medical research.

thank you foodisgood any other advice?

Anyone have any other advice???

ok at least help me out with
how do I go about getting into research?

What other posters here have done is contact professors at their local universities to see if a) They will accept any high school students to help out with current research projects, or b) The professor will mentor a high school student working on their own project.

Sometimes there are programs in your city that are designed to give high school students research opportunities (ie. Alberta's HYRMS program)

If you're a senior, isn't it too late to be starting a research project?

not a senior i'm a junior thanks for the advice dancer
