Help Needed

Hi, I’m an aspiring meteorologist who needs major assistance. My mother thinks that EVERY college I find interesting needs “atmospheric science” specifically as a major. Although I am indeed applying to colleges with atmospheric science, I am also applying to colleges that offer physics and math. Please help me convince her that I’m being perfectly logical.

From a college website that does not offer not offer atmospheric science as a major: “Students interested in a career in meteorology should consider concentrations in physics or mathematics with supporting courses in geology . . . and chemistry.”

I think using the availability of an atmospheric sciences major as a firm criterion for selection would result in the elimination of too many excellent, interesting colleges, and would therefore hinder rather than serve your purpose.
