Help needed for Senior year course selections! My hardworking, dedicated daughter is really struggling with her courses for next year. She has a 4.1 gpa (hoping to boost up this year with her AP courses) has taken all honors and APs this year (AP Physics, APUSH, AP Lang & Honors Precalc). Although she is doing very well in math this year, she has struggled in years past. Her choices are: Calc, AP Calc AB (terrible teacher)or BC (great teacher/very rigorous) or AP Stats (with the teacher she has this year and loves). My advice was to take Stats, but she is worried it will look bad to not take Calculus. Any advice?
It depends a lot on where she is applying and for what major. In addition, she needs to consider the rest of her schedule and how rigorous it will be, how much she wants to take on during senior year with applications and other activities. A lot of seniors at our school take AP stats but they have usually taken Calculus during junior year. If you list the types of schools to which she is applying and her intended major, maybe others can give better input.
@MommyOC your school sounds so much like my school its uncanny.
