What is the general format for student's email addresses? I was hoping to visit early this week and see a friend of mine at stanford, but being the brilliant person that I am managed to lose her email. Also, does anyone know if there's a place online where I can find out what classes I can visit? Thanks!

Students can pick their own ID for the email, so you can't just figure out someone's email from a general format. :( sorry

you might be able to search for students by name to get their email, but i'm not sure

Where can I find contact information for students, faculty and staff?
Use StanfordWho to find contact information for Stanford faculty, students and staff. Other useful sites include the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center's phone directory, the faculty physician directory maintained by Stanford Hospital, as well as a similar directory maintained by the children's hospital.

Thank you so much!

Also, does anyone know about visiting classes? Can I just appear in a class? Should I email the teacher? I plan to visit Monday/Tuesday (I have some friends who are students there) so I can't really call the admissions office... any clue if the office is open, even if they won't accept phone calls?

Many classes are open for auditing (which means you can watch and listen, but not interact). The professors are usually have no problem letting people (esp. prospective students) attend lectures but you should e-mail them anyway.
Prof. Richard Rorty's class last quarter was actually composed of about 50% auditors at times. No problems at all.

Thanks. Is there some way to know if the class is open for auditing or not? Also, where can I get a list of available classes this quarter?
