Hey so I took the AP Calculus AB test yesterday, and I think I did well but I am kind of worried if I am on the border of a 4 or a 5. My teacher said that low 70's or even high 60's can potentially be a 5, and I think I possibly got like a 40-46 on the multiple choice but I most likely badly messed up the free response (unless the AP Graders grandfather points if I got part a wrong but used the same formula to get the answer for part b, c, and d). I think i got around 25-35 on the free response because I made really catastrophic mistakes. Do you think that this is good enough for a 5?

you will do fine…trust me…last year…i seriously thought i got a 1 ( i knew like…nothing except for simple derivatives/integrals) and ended up with a 4…
so, if you think you know that much…then you probably will get a 5!..plus, ap graders do give you points even if you get the first part wrong…

The grandfathering of points for later parts based on wrong responses in part (a) really depends on how badly you screwed up part (a). If the functions you’re working with are of comparable difficulty to the ones you were supposed to be working with, you’re frequently eligible for points for doing correct work with that wrong function on later parts. On the other hand, if the functions are significantly simpler/easier to work with or don’t force you to consider certain important ideas for the prompt (i.e. a separable differential equation question might have two paths to consider; if yours doesn’t, you might be ineligible for later points) might not allow you to earn the later points.

anamai

do you remember skipping a lot of MC questions?
also did you leave any of the FRQ blank cuz thats what i’m worried about… i’m pretty sure i got a 3 on the calc exam =[

YEA OMG. my problem too.

i think i prolly got around 46 on MC, but the FRQ’s owned me. they owned me. owned. with a capital OW. well, i prolly got 30, tops.

i didnt know the answer to one, so i just drew a picture, called it a stain blot, and asked “how do you feel about that?”

The free responses weren’t that bad. The only one I know I didn’t get was with the cross sections being perpendicular at sin(pix)

That was weird.

i am a bit nervous about my score for AB exam, too. this is my first AP exam in my life, and I really wanted a 5. I think I did well on the first part MC, but calculator part MC screwed me. But FR questions were alright.

seriously… im really nervous. i think i did okay on non calc MC, really bad on calc MC and decent on FR.
