I took the SAT today and I noticed that my college board and admission ticket said “Katie” instead of Katherine. I’m not sure how that happened, maybe when I took the PSAT in 10th grade. I was still let into the testing center and I took the test. But I’m worried that if I try to take it again I won’t be allowed to, but if I call and change my name they’ll think I cheated. Also I’m not sure if colleges will be suspicious that my SAT scores say Katie but my application says Katherine. Has this happened to anyone before? What will happen to me?
No one is going to accuse you of cheating. Just call CB and explain your situation. They will adjust your name. Going forward, probably stick to your name on your birth certificate to avoid any problems.
I had to get my son’s name changed because the PSAT didn’t read his name correctly. Just call them or email them. They will fix it. It might take some time, though, so sooner would be better than later.
I’m afraid they’ll cancel my score because the proctor wasn’t technically supposed to let me in since my name didn’t match my ID
What kind of ID did you have for the PSAT? Most kids don’t have drivers’ licenses at that point, so all that they may have is a student ID, which would not be unheard of to show a nickname.
They won’t cancel your scores, they will simply fix it.
The posters above have already told you that they will not cancel your score. Just contact the CB to fix. No big deal.
