Help, non-traditional path to MBA

I have a bachelor's and master's from very good academic schools in Music. My GPA, especially in the grad degree is strong. However, I started my Doctorate, got good grades, and decided to stop music. I'm at an age where I probably don't want to be going to school too much later than the age of 28. This means that I will only have a year to get work experience. I'd like to get into Arts Administration, and have internship opportunities, but I'm afraid that the very soft work experience is going to count against me.

I need to decide fairly quickly if an MBA is right for me, and if so, I want to start studying for the GMAT as soon as possible. I think that my educational resume in a totally different field would help me to stand out in some respects, but I also don't think it would be enough to get a lot of attention. What are the best things I can do for myself in the coming summer and fall to place myself in a strong position (given my background and timeline) for admission to MBA programs?

Thanks guys
