<p>If you are talking about high school credit hours and your school is on a semester system (two semesters a year) then one course for one semester equals 1/2 credit hour. As to number needed to graduate from high school that is determined by states and high schools and then colleges usually have minimum required to apply. Most applicants to college usually have 24 credit hours or better but the required number is usually lower than that. AP courses do not count as more credit hours per se but schools that have weighting systems weight AP courses higher than regular. For example: an A in a regular course is considered a 4.0 when using a 4.0 scale for calculating GPA; an A in an AP course may get weighted as 5.0, or 4.5 or something else depending on school.</p>
