I really don't know how to decide. I am an international student from Hong Kong. So if I go for NYU gsp, I could go to Florence for a year, which really sounds great. But I also heard that NYU's students is cold, school run like a business, not much of a campus etc. Could anyone give me some opinions? Thanks!

What type of location do you want to be in and what do you want to study?

NYU is a better school. The students are a diverse bunch...you'll find all types. The school isn't run like a business any more so than other schools. As far as the campus is concerned...if you want endless miles of greenery, NYU is not for you, but NYU is the 2nd largest landowner in NY behind the Catholic Church, and the school owns everything around Washington Square, and everything is pretty concentrated...so its an urban campus. Visit both schools if you can.

NYU's Florence program is really awesome.

I'm choosing NYU over madison, even though I have free tuition there. I don't know about you, but NYU is just more "me". Granted, I am also itching to get out of the midwest (I grew up in Minnesota).

thx for giving opinions~
Actually my dream college type would be one with endless mile of greenery, so originally I lean towards Wisconsin rather than NYU. But after I learn more about the Florence program, I am really attracted by it. And NYU seems more prestigious afterall, with more internship opportunities. So now the case is all the above factors vs. the factor of a beautiful campus. grr... I just don't know how to decide which factor is more important.

imo, greenery isnt that important at all.... the beauty of a campus isnt that important, sure it looks all nice and such, but after a few weeks you'll have seen it all and it wont mesmerize you any more, and you wont even really think about it much, people seem to romanticize the looks of campuses without realizing its going to lose its aesthetic appeal and not really have any affect on their overall happiness in college. NYU will have better social life and alot more to do, which in it self will make you enjoy it alot more than being in Wisconsin which has about 1% of the things to do than in NYC. NYU will also give you far superior academics and and you'll land a better job afterwards.

i'm also from hong kong and now at nyu cas
personally, i'm applying transfer to madison=p
coniziwa, if you want to know more, i'm happy to tell u

mikekobe, I thought you were transferring to Umich?

i'm applying to some other schools besides uMich, including uw-madison

Anyone who makes the claim that NYU has a better social life then Madison should reconsider their mindset

wow so it seems that NYU's social life sucks, or madison's social life is well above standard...
I am leaning towards NYU at this moment, but still can't be 100% sure that I will like NYU more than Wisconsin. I hate the feeling of regretting after making a decision. V.V

What about the money? It's going to cost around 45-50K more to attend NYU over 4 years.

thankfully money is not my major concern... I would put the academic experience as a more important factor.
