Help on a writing question?

<p>Can anyone explain the logic of this question to me? Its from the writing multiple choice.</p>

<p>Twice as many bird species inhabit Ecuador (as in) North America.</p>

<p>(as in is the underlined part- I can't underline on my phone.)</p>

<p>A) as in
B) as inhabit
C) instead of in
D) when compared to
E) than</p>

<p>I selected E, but that still didn't seem right, and it was wrong. C and D are definitely not the right choices, and B definitely did not pop out at me, but the book says B is the right answer. I can't put together why. Anyone know? This is a difficulty level 5 Q.</p>

<p>Than would be comparing bird species that inhabit Ecuador to North America, not the bird species that inhabit North America.</p>
