Help on applying to Cal

Hi all! Well, the '08 filing period is approaching and I am extremely anxious because I've had my heart set on Cal for a long time. I'm currently a high school senior and below is my student profile. As far as taking rigorous high school courses, I completed Honor's English last year with a B+, I'm enrolled in AP English this semester, and will be taking AP Calculus and AP Government next semester.

- EAOP / UC Berkeley Summer Session Student '07 (with a grade of B-)
- Online Editor Rebel Record Newspaper '07

VOLUNTEER WORK:
- St. John's Church Choir '07
- Alameda County Library Tutor '07

WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Century Theaters '07

AWARDS:
- Junior Varisty Sports Award

GPA:
3.89 (Unweighted)

SAT: 1300 (I know it is low, but I took the test again a week ago and I feel more confident with my effort on that)

I would like to know how you guys perceive my chances to be. I'd also like to know if anybody has advice on writing a personal statement. Furthermore, any suggestions on improving my profile?

P.S. On the UC Admissions application, will I be required to include my UC Berkeley summer session grade?

If you took a class for college credit, it is required by law you send it when you apply to all colleges. It will also be factored into your admissions chances.

There's a chances thread above.

What's your UC GPA? Is that SAT score just CR+M, or CR+M+W? How rigorous has your course load been in the past, in comparison to what your school offers (i.e. is it the most rigorous possible)? Have you taken any AP/IB classes? Are you sure those are all of your ECs and honors/awards? As it stands, Berkeley seems to be a reach.

With a 1300/2400, it's a reach. By the way, do you attend a school in Milpitas?
