So I just purchased Princ Mod Chem (6th) that has ISBN #9780534493660; however what is the other book Pkg: Princ Mod Chem (6th) W/custom Ssm that has ISBN #9780495481041. I looked all over for it but can't find it. What is the difference between them? If someone could explain to me what to do i'd greatly appreciate it.

And apparently the one with custom SSM is cheaper than the other one.

If you’re in Scerri’s class, don’t even bother getting the textbook. He makes you buy a $70 course reader from a store in Westwood and teaches out of that. If you’re in Baugh’s class, I feel sorry for you.

I never personally had him. From the stories I hear, he’s a horrible, horrible professor, probably one of those who should stick to research rather than teaching. In Winter 2010, I had chem 20B with a new professor who turned out pretty lenient yet taught the class well in that everyone was learning. Baugh’s class was always behind us because he kept going off on tangents during lectures. In order to finish the curriculum, he rushed everything and crammed what we learned in ten weeks into the last two weeks.

Since South Campus classes are curved for the most part, your chances at an A will always be somewhat the same, just depends on who’s taking the class with you. If you fail less than other people, your chances at an A will be better.

The ucla custom edition is thinned out to include only the chapters that are covered in class. So it will be slightly lighter to lug around, but you will have a harder time reselling it on bay, half.com, etc. After you’re done with it, try reselling on bruin walk.

the custom solutions manual is the exact same thing as the regular solutions manual from the publisher, just with a slightly cheaper paperback cover.
