help on classes

ok, so my orientation is this thursday and before selecting my classes I want to know which ones they will be offering and a little overview about them. i am a chass student.

are there any links that show the courses required and available?
thanks

Not sure about courses required but you can check if they are open at classes.ucr.edu

I only found this about major descriptions for CHASS

[CHASS: Undergraduate Major Programs](http://chass.ucr.edu/about/undergrad/)

harabok:
That’s a bit of a broad question.
As far as the availability of classes, I suggest that you look at the Schedule of Classes ([UC Riverside - Schedule of Classes](<a href=“Select a Term”>http://classes.ucr.edu/)) because that’s as up to date as it gets.

There are specific required classes for your major and then there are breadth requirements you can pick as long as it satisfies a certain area of study.

Example:
If you’re a film major, your REQUIRED lower-division classes are:

 • MCS020
 • 1 course in media production: (permitted classes are listed on the catalog)
 • 2 additional courses: (listed on the catalog)

The first one is very specific, but the other two are vague and you can pick from an approved list in the catalog, or you can go see your academic advisor to see what other unlisted classes you can take.

If you’re in CHASS, you have to take at least one class in Anthropology OR Sociology OR Psychology. This means you can take either ANTH001, ANTH002, ANTH005, PSYC001, PSYC002, SOC001, etc. So you can pick any.

Requirements for your major are listed in the catalog: [UC Riverside - General Catalog](<a href=“The Office of the Registrar | UC Riverside”>http://catalog.ucr.edu/)
Breadth requirements for CHASS students: http://chassstudentaffairs.ucr.edu/petitions/chbreadth.pdf</a></p>

This shows what is being offered for breadth classes for Fall 2009:
